POSTURE & STRETCH THERAPY (PST)
What is PST?
PST is an advanced stretching technique designed to increase functional flexibility, safely and efficiently.  PST is different from traditional limbering stretches in that it utilizes the Contract-Release technique to re-pattern chronically tight or restricted muscles.
Why should I do PST?
Flexibility plays an integral part in our physical and mental well being. Flexibility is fundamental to graceful and efficient movement and to injury prevention.  A tight muscle will always win unless it is                    re-patterned and released. As well, stretching allows us to release muscular tension and allay common aches and pains associated with stress, age, sports or too much work at the computer!

You will learn about your own patterns of tension, and how to change them.  You will gain deeper insight to yourself.  Improving flexibility and strength improves the quality of your life.
What happens in an average PST class?
A PST class is 75-minute long beginning with a warm-up, followed by an hour of stretches, most of them using the Contract-Release method of re-patterning.  The stretches vary week by week, though there is always an emphasis on the muscles around the hip and the neck/shoulders.  The class ends with a long “moment of zen” either through guided meditation or on your own.
